The electronic duo “Stereo Banana” (from the Imperial City of Niš, Serbia) which consists of Naopak /eng. ‘topsy-turvy’/ (Marko Anđelković, MC) and Nemus (Nemanja Nedeljković, producer and beatmaker), performed on November 14, 2025 at the Art Club “Svitac” (eng. Firefly) in Jagodina (eng. Strawberry City). It was an exclusive event, considering that it was their 1st performance in Jagodina since the beginning of their career, which they started some 15 years ago. A lot of fans ‘from the side’, i.e. from other cities, who came with the aim of seizing the opportunity for their live performance, were also noticed.
The performance itself could be described with the words “Throwing Dynamites at Electricity!” – because the experience was exactly like that! Not only did the show last quite a bit, but the audience asked for – not one – but two encores! (playlist overheated!). The fact that this band complied with all the demands and wishes of its fans does not only speak positively about this – occasionally socially engaged – band. That fact also speaks of the fantastic atmosphere they created together – both the band and the audience – making this performance legendary and deeply etched into the musical history of this city, and of central Serbia itself.
However, that is not the only exclusive when it comes to Stereo Banana. The band rarely gives interviews and statements to the media – almost never in recent years! (reasons known to the editors, and probably to you too, if you are the ‘clicker’). In this regard, we can say that there was quite a bit of ‘kungfusion’ (Serbian slang for ‘confusion’ in this case, and a ‘musical genre’ in their case) and a lot more about the preparation of this interview. During the agreement/arrangement related to the interview – another process related to the band itself was taking place in parallel. In the same period, a double concert on the occasion of 15 years of their career was planned in their home town of Niš (lat. Naissus, birthplace of Roman emperor Constantine the Great), at the “Feedback” club (December 5/6, 2025). We got confirmation that it went fantastic too! So we postponed the whole story a bit, again in the spirit of our urban digital magazine where some of the stories are occasionally published retroactively, preserving the original spirit of events, stories and interviews (we did the interview near the very end of 2025).
While the title of the article refers to the atmosphere of their performance in Jagodina, at the Art Club “Svitac” (eng. Firefly) – the interview is somewhat different. This is one of those “Up Close and Personal” interviews with the producer and beatmaker of Stereo Banana – Nemanja Nedeljković, better known as Nemus.
alxspirit: “Stereo Banana” is a fusion of several genres, such as: hip-hop, funk, reggae, dnb, breakbeat. What did you listen to in your formative (teenage) years – what did you bring with you and what influenced you?
Nemus: (For you) to understand the breadth of everything that passed through my ears, I would have to go back many years. I was born into a musical family. My father is a jazz keyboardist, so I had contact with music from the earliest days. There was always music playing in the house and very often he and his friends played around the apartment. The first memory of music is when he plays the record ‘Miles Davis – Tutu’ (issued in 1986) on the gramophone. You could say that I owe my family a debt of gratitude for my refined musical taste. Later I started doing research myself. I started with hip-hop music, punk, various electronics (techno, house, breakbeat, dnb…) and then funk, reggae, soul and so on. There is no genre in which I don’t have a “favorite song”.
alxspirit: What are you listening to today?
Nemus: Until recently, I listened exclusively to children’s music, until my children got a little older. Now I mostly listen to some old albums on YouTube – because with a few clicks I can hear everything that I couldn’t even dream about before. I follow new releases regularly, of course, but I always return to old songs and artists.
alxspirit: What can you tell us about the City of Niš and its music scene?
Nemus: There are talented people, but there are no authors who are constant and dedicated to music. Music requires a lot of time, sacrifice and perseverance, and it seems to me that young people want everything right away. Of course, not everything is so dark, so I can say that in Niš we currently have a lot of clubs and spaces for performances and parties. Until – let’s say – 5 years ago, it was not like that.
alxspirit: It is noticeable that in audio production you are not lagging behind in the quality of sound that can be compared with big names and great music studios throughout the world. Can you tell us a bit about the inspiration and process of making beats, and what gear you use?
Nemus: I don’t know what I could cleverly say here. I never had any expensive equipment. Everything was more or less reduced to a midi-keyboard, a couple of monitors and a computer. I love making beats and it makes me very happy. I devote a lot of time and energy to it, so I guess that’s why the result is heard. When I started – we were “taught” that a personal touch is the most important – so I am still guided by that today.
alxspirit: How do you see the current social momentum in Serbia and in the world?
Nemus: Right now it’s a difficult period for us musicians and authors. Our audience is mostly youth and students who have been on the streets for the past year. So neither they nor we are too fond of entertainment and performances, but here we go, and we try to survive this period as well.
alxspirit: This is your 1st performance in Jagodina – what are your impressions after the performance?
Nemus: It was great. People reacted well. I liked that everyone knew the lyrics and sang along with us.
Their music video for the song ‘Krindž’ (eng. Cringe) won the prestigious ‘Muzzik Video Awards’ festival award for ‘Best Music Video’, 2022.

Disclaimer:
Nobody messed with the electrics except for Stereo Banana, concerning their show, at least.
The Editor-In-Chief messed with the electrics a bit, but his own electrics, when publishing the article/interview.
In the end, we still happened to do and publish that interview, like – for example – now!
Anyhow… it’s a tribe thing.
